The artist takes us on a voyage through time and into the history of rapidly changing video
technology while shedding light on the playful processes of producing images and art. A table-
top installation has also been created specially for the exhibition with a miniature drag lift,
which ironically and eloquently transports, as its only passenger, Sigmund Freud’s book
Psychopathology of Everyday Life.
I should like to extend my deepest thanks to Romana Scheffknecht for the rewarding collaboration
and the concept for this multi-perspectival exhibition. In the interview with Patricia
Grzonka we are given a lively insight into the artist’s stance and her outlook on life. In her essay,
Cornelia Offergeld provides an informed description of the tabletop installations on show in
the exhibition, and Andrea Hörl highlights beguiling cross-connections between Scheffknecht
and Aby Warburg. I should like to express my thanks to them here for their contributions. My
thanks also go to Jonathan Quinn for his conscientious translations of their texts. Rainer Iglar
carefully photographed the exhibition in detail for the catalogue, which has been sensitively
designed by Paul Trebo. My sincere thanks to them, as well as to Andreas Balze, who included
the catalogue in the programme of publishers Snoeck. In addition, I should like to thank Steck
& Moling Modellbau, the Innsbruck model makers, for their precise construction of the drag
lift according to the artist’s vision, and also Galerie Marion + Roswitha Fricke, Berlin, for the
fruitful collaboration and for providing works on loan. Finally, my special thanks to my colleagues
at the Galerie im Taxispalais for logistical support and the implementation of the exhibition.
