LEONI multi-standard cables – one for all
In the course of European harmonisation, the member countries
accepted harmonising documents HD 21 and HD 22, so that
the use of
identified cables became possible without
further national certification.
However, this identification is not sufficient for export to the USA or
Canada. Before electrical products may be introduced to the North American
market, they have to be checked and approved for potential hazards
regarding combustibility, electrocution and in the case of certain devices
also for electromagnetic compatibility. According to the product liability
law, the manufacturer must guarantee by testing and certification of his
product that it meets the national statutory requirements in every respect.
A multi-standard wiring single core complies with the European harmonisation
approval
, the UL approval for the USA and the
CSA approval for Canada. One cable can therefore be used for the entire
European and North American area, thus the most important global markets.
Common harmonised, heat-proof cables such as H05V2 and H07V2 are
modified and, depending on the respective requirements, as a result comply
with styles UL 1007, UL 1011, UL 1015, UL 1028, UL1061 or others as
per arrangement. The cables can also be adapted to the specifications of
CSA types TR 64, T2, TR 32, T1 or TEW.
Standard cross sections for bare or solder-coated strands range from 0.5
mm2 (≅ AWG 20) to 120 mm2 (≅ AWG 4/0), larger cross sections are also
possible on request.
As can be gathered from our two catalogues ”Power lines” and ”UL- and
CSA-approved cables and wires”, our product range also includes shielded
or unshielded multi-core multi-standard PVC-control cables. These are
special H05VV5-F or H05VVC4V5-K cables, which correspond to UL style
2464 and can also be supplied according to the Canadian standard (CSA)
with solder-coated strands. Other combinations between HAR, UL and CSA
for multi-core cables are also possible.
The advantages of a multi-standard cable are obvious. Apart from the
worldwide application possibilities and the connected increase of its economic
efficiency, expenditure for technical documentation and storage is
also reduced.
