the offroad setting is activated. It is also possible to<br />
select the special offroad level via the rocker switch for<br />
the air suspension system, in order to further increase<br />
the approach and departure angles and the ramp angle<br />
as well as fording depth.<br />
If the driver selects offroad mode 2, the longitudinal<br />
clutch is locked up to 100 per cent for better traction<br />
in difficult offroad conditions. The electroni<strong>ca</strong>lly controlled<br />
rear differential lock of the optional Porsche<br />
Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) is integrated in the all<br />
-wheel drive control. Fully automati<strong>ca</strong>lly, it provides<br />
for suitable metering of power on especially poor offroad<br />
surfaces. If a rear wheel begins to spin on a slippery<br />
or loose-packed surface, the differential lock restores<br />
traction by intelligently redistributing drive<br />
power to the other rear wheel. When conditions require<br />
it, another press of the offroad rocker switch selects<br />
offroad mode 3 which fully locks the rear differential.<br />
Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus for even greater agility<br />
Performance and stability of the Cayenne S Diesel <strong>ca</strong>n<br />
be optimised even further with the new optional Porsche<br />
Torque Vectoring (PTV Plus). PTV Plus operates<br />
with variable torque distribution to the rear wheels<br />
and an electroni<strong>ca</strong>lly controlled rear differential lock.<br />
PTV Plus improves steering behaviour and steering<br />
precision by specific brake interventions at a rear<br />
wheel; its control is based on the steering angle and<br />
steering rate, accelerator pedal position, yaw rate and<br />
vehicle speed. Stated more precisely: In a dynamic style<br />
of driving, turning the steering wheel results in slight<br />
braking of the wheel at the inside of the bend. This<br />
gives the rear wheel at the outside of the curve greater<br />
drive force, which generates additional turning force in<br />
the steered direction. This results in more direct and<br />
dynamic steering into the bend.<br />
PTV Plus signifi<strong>ca</strong>ntly enhances agility and steering precision<br />
at low and moderate speeds. The electroni<strong>ca</strong>lly<br />
controlled rear differential lock provides for better driving<br />
stability, especially when accelerating quickly out<br />
of fast driven bends or if wheelspin is occurring. Even<br />
on split roadway surfaces, or when roads are wet or<br />
snow covered, the system interacts with Porsche Traction<br />
Management and Porsche Stability Management<br />
to offer benefits in driving stability. In offroad use, PTV<br />
Plus reduces slip at the rear wheels. In addition, brake<br />
interventions are specifi<strong>ca</strong>lly adapted to offroad use.<br />
From the offroad rocker switch on the centre console,<br />
the rear differential lock <strong>ca</strong>n be locked up to 100 per<br />
