The technological and economic demands which are made upon the raw material are<br />
confronted with the fluctuations (concerning quality and price) as uncertainty factors,<br />
whilst consi<strong>der</strong>ing the situation, prospects, and influences on the market for molasses<br />
and baker's yeast.<br />
Specific skeleton requirements, regarding the quality of the molasses for the purposes<br />
of the production of baker's yeast, are missing. The customs of the molasses trade are<br />
complemented by propos<strong>als</strong>:<br />
a) Appe<strong>als</strong> against a contract are to be obviated by precise agreements;<br />
b) As a precaution, in case of conflict, the competence of a court of arbitration is to<br />
be agreed upon;<br />
c) The fixed purpose of the molasses is to be settled in the purchasing-contract;<br />
d) Appraisable attributes and characteristics are to be expressed unequivocally in<br />
the purchasing-contract.<br />
Regarding the desired shaping of uniform trading conditions for molasses, the clauses<br />
for invert sugar are criticized. Also ideas for the compilation of a catalogue, containing<br />
the relevant characteristics of molasses for the purposes of baker's yeast are given, in<br />
or<strong>der</strong> to define the desired as Well as undesired characteristics. Changes in quality of<br />
molasses are possible during its preparation and have nothing to do whatsoever with<br />
the original quality.<br />
