KRONE Auflieger erleichtern
Mitarbeitern den Alltag und
KRONE trailers make things
easier for the employees and
are often found at TCH
Why does the fascinating story sound so
unspectacular? Perhaps because the
person who is telling it was born with the
businessman’s gene and not as an
eloquent storyteller. When you talk to
Dieter Hauser, the story of the Dieburg
entrepreneur and KRONE partner who
worked his way up from driving his own
lorry to heading one of the leading
commercial vehicle rental businesses,
sounds as sober as the stock market news.
In 1968 Hauser started out with a licence
and a truck and mainly did trips within
Germany. Within a short time he had
several branches, with a constantly
growing fleet, although no-one was yet
talking about the rental business, which
wasn’t legal in Germany at that time, a
fact that has almost been forgotten.
Good weather
Hauser adapts his business continuously
to the latest requirements, sends his lorries
abroad and buys refrigerated trailers. He
has also started dealing in second-hand
commercial vehicles. The company grows
to a respectable medium size but there’s
still some way to go.
At the end of the 80s, he just seemed to
sense “there was something in the air”, he
says today about the new area of business
– but it couldn’t have been that easy to
foresee, otherwise more companies would
have started renting out commercial
vehicles.
Dieter Hauser is one of the first to start up
a rental company after the change in the
goods traffic laws in 1990. Today the Truck
Center Hauser (TCH) with 2,700 vehicles,
800 of which are tractor units, is playing
in the Premier League. In the meantime,
Hauser still found time to race trucks with
his brother Jürgen.
His son Michael, who looks after the dayto-day
business at TCH, also followed in
his father’s footsteps to become the
youngest pilot. In 1999 “Fritz-K” in the red
TCH-MAN truck ran away with the
European Championships – and Hauser
again sensed changes. He did not like what
he sees so he gives up truck racing to
concentrate on the business. Hauser tells
the story with little emotion, a quality
which fits this business, especially when
it’s as complex as renting out commercial
vehicles. TCH managed a second place
“VerkehrsRundschau” image ranking.
