48 Episodenschnipsel aus der britischen TV-Serie Mondbasis Alpha 1 (Space: 1999) aus den
1970er-Jahren sind Anlass für die Ein-Mann-Schau des französischen Performers, Songwriters
und Radiokünstlers Gérald Kurdian. Zwischen Bruchstücken aus Tango- und Mambotänzen,
Liebeschansons und selbstgeschriebenen Liedern erzählt Kurdian die Handlung eines noch
zu realisierenden Science-Fiction-Films und übernimmt dabei ausnahmslos alle Rollen und
Figuren selbst. Es treten die Akteure der Musikindustrie auf: Kurdian vollzieht den fliegenden
Wechsel vom Performer zum Composer, vom Graphic Designer zum Video-Clip-Director und
Artistic Manager. Er bewegt sich souverän in einem Setting aus technischen Apparaten, Musikinstrumenten
und Diavortrag-Equipment. Mit seinen Lo-Fi-Arrangements und minimalistischen
Aktionen besingt der musikalische Bastler Kurdian den Charme des Unfertigen als die
wahre Utopie.
Snippets from the 48 episodes of the TV series Space: 1999 from the 1970s are the occasion for
the one-man show by French performer, songwriter, and radio artist Gérald Kurdian. Between
fragments of tango and mambo dances, love chansons, and self-written songs, Kurdian narrates
the action of a science fiction film that has yet to be realised and invariably assumes all the
roles and figures himself. The movers and shakers of the music industry appear: Kurdian carries
out a smooth transformation from performer to composer, from graphic designer to video-clip
director and artistic manager. He moves confidently in a setting of technical apparatuses, musical
instruments and slide-show equipment. With his lo-fi arrangements and minimalistic actions, the
musical do-it-yourselfer Kurdian sings praises for the charm of the unfinished as the true utopia.

Gérald Kurdian, performer, songwriter and radio-artist, studied visual arts in Ecole Nationale
Supérieure d’Arts de Paris-Cergy before taking part in the EX.E.R.CE 07 contemporary dance
program directed by Mathilde Monnier and Xavier Le Roy. His musical performances have
been shown in various places such as la Fondation Cartier pour l’Art contemporain, steirischer
herbst Graz, and the Moderna Dansteater Stockholm. Meanwhile, he collaborated with Eszter
Salamon, Mette Ingvartsen, Xavier Le Roy, Tiago Guedes, Eleanor Bauer and Juan Dominguez
composing sound scores for their choreographic work or assisting them dramaturgically.
In 2006, Kurdian collaborated with the Atelier de Creation Radiophonique/Radio France and
produced Je suis putain, a radio-documentary elaborated in collaboration with female prostitutes.
He also directed several radio projects exploring sound performativity and contemporary
arts critique. Between July and December 08, he took part in 6M1L (6 months 1 location), a
research program initiated by Xavier Le Roy and Bojana Cvejic. In 2010, he initiated, together
with Caroline Masini and Manon Santkin, an audio-magazine project called Archive Now. He
is currently touring 1999, a lo-fi sci-fi performance, which premiered in the parisian festival
Les Inaccoutumés/Ménagerie de Verre and composes love-songs for his avant-pop solo band
project hello monster!.
