TALIN, MARY KATE & ME is a theatre project between fiction and documentation in which three
artists from Istanbul, London, and Vienna encounter each other on the brut stage. They are
sitting with their babies in a surreal-poetic landscape of grass and moss and do what they always
do day-in, day-out: they sustain their children. Yet at the same time they are doing something
completely different: their daily routine becomes an experiment in the theatre space, a play with
their roles as mothers and artists. For this project, French artist and stage designer Lise Lendais –
known in the Viennese performance scene since her cooperation with Anne Juren at the latest –
exchanged experiences across the distance with artists Talin and Mary Kate about their daily
routines as mothers and their needs as individuals and documented these on the Internet.
Lise Lendais was born in France and developed her first work in Belgium. Now she lives and
works in Vienna, Austria. Lise graduated from the French National School of Theatre ENSATT
(École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Techniques du Théâtre) in scenography. She also
studied at the National School of Applied Art in Paris ENSAD (École Nationale Supérieure des
Arts Décoratifs). She has been trained in scenography but layed no claim to any title. Rather,
she believes in the undisciplined, active, and responsible participation of the protagonists in
the project. Lise aims an independent theatre that takes part in daily life. The tools she dreams
of for this adventure are made of games, of experimental fields, and of performers. It is the
living body in the entirety of its capacities what is of interest. While working as costume or set
designer she develops her own projects and collaborations with many different artists.
GET WET, BABY!
After the piece Love for Gold celebrated the hedonist love for the noble metal last year, the imagetanz
festival culminates this year in a bubble-action orgy: bursting bubbles on naked skin, Deap
Throat Darkroom, wet pants contest, wet rooms with glass walls, and bubble-tea baths please
the generous heart. After the workshop “Besser Blasen” with Pustefix, the hard-boiled Bubble Boys
& Girls may again prove themselves with a wet naked run for champagne, on the soapy catwalk,
or during vogueing. GET WET, BABY!
