Continuo / Figured bass
Thoroughbass figures always appear above the continuo
system and are not completed. There follows a distribution
over the corresponding time values wherever this is necessary
and clearly evident. Authentic clef-change signs in the
continuo have been marked where possible by a change in
clef. There is no realisation of the figures, however.
Vocal Texts
All the vocal texts have been generally reproduced in normal
print for reasons of practicability, including text repetitions
required due to idem signs or similar indications. In
addition, the text has for the most part been adapted to modern
spelling as used today; however, there has been no modernisation
of articulation or basic alteration of individual
words. Abbreviations have been tacitly eliminated if possible
beyond a shadow of a doubt, and punctuation has been
added in accordance with modern guidelines. All deviations,
divergences or editorial decisions have been documented
in the Critical Commentary; where appropriate, the
original text in the original articulation is also found there.
