Steel production and processing - basis for the production of cutting dies
Cutting rules and cutting plates are essential for the
quality and precision that guarantee long service
life of cutting dies. What demands do the diemakers
and their customers of the packaging industry make
regarding these components of diecutting And
which of the demands can be achieved and what
more can steel achieve

were the reason for planning such an on-site seminar.

What means “crossrolled plates“
With this special rolling techology - Cross Rolling forming
is done in longitudinal and transversal direction.
This rolling procedure combined with a special
heat treatment (solution annealing with following
precipitation hardening) causes isotropic properties in
the dimensional change and mechanical properties and
leads to higher lifespan.
Through this Cross Rolling Technology round grains are
produced compared to coil plates which are rolled only
in one direction. As a result of this, isotropic mechanical
and physical properties (e.g. thermal expansion) are
achieved. These properties are responsible for good
flatness also at changing temperatures.
Böhler Bleche offers cross rolled and precipitation
hardened grades “BÖHLER N702” and “BÖHLER
Stainless Superhard N713”. Böhler has developed both
materials for the application as Die Cutting Plates.
