This course focuses on learning theories of elections and voting behavior in political<br />
science. We will study why individuals support particular parties or candidates for<br />
public office, given recent national elections in the United States. From there, we will<br />
study more generally how basic individual predispositions and social forces influence<br />
the vote choice across advanced industrial democracies.<br />
Students will watch a series of documentary films about American campaigns and<br />
elections.<br />
Course Text:<br />
Reading assignments will be provided by the instructor.<br />
Course Requirements:<br />
Regular attendance and participation in class discussions. Students will be expected<br />
to prepare an oral presentation and write an essay.<br />
