2008 - ITCA

Monday: Sun, good wind, first official Euro-day. After the briefing
we all hand in – like we‘re advised to – our highly official and
professional ID-cards and then it goes straight on the water.
There are three fighted races with not really expected results. Latest
after the third race it‘s clear for everyone: those, who misjudge
the wind and decide for the wrong side, lose (at least valuable
places). And it never becomes boring because the right decision
of the last race has not to be the right one for the next.
Tuesday: It‘s a really calm and quiet morning because there
simply is no wind. But we‘ve done already three races, it‘s summer
and we‘re on holidays – everything‘s fine. Groups sit around
the ships and in front of the tent on the meadow talking about
this and that, it‘s said that south wind shall still come.
It comes, but very late and only moderate. Around 4 p.m. we go
on the water. The race committee decides after the first regatta
that there will be another one. So, ok, we are here for sailing, so
we sail.
Neusiedlersee 2008
The last Topcats arrive at the beach in front of the picturesque
scenery of the sunset. The beach party starts a bit later.
Wednesday: Again lull in the morning, at 10 a.m. “red-white” is
set: Waiting for wind. Depending on the weather forecast there‘s
hope for todays afternoon, there shall be wind – shall! At early
afternoon we all agree in having talked and laid in the sun
enough, we could go sailing now, but there is not really one move
in the air. At 7 p.m. is Panonian Evening and so it‘s clear, that we
don‘t wait that much longer. At 3.40 p.m. readiness for start is
cancelled. Panonian Evening. Fantastic wine from the region,
traditional food and a super atmosphere on a hot summers evening.
