They both live as freelancemusicians in Berlin and have overthe years built up considerablereputations as performers forconcerts and recordings. Since 1992their CD recordings have appearedon the Capriccio and New ClassicalAdventure labels. The LAUTTENCOMPAGNEY is dedicated to thevarious forms of church and secularmusic from the 16th to the 18thcentury. Their repertoire includesevenings of pure lute music,thematically connected chambermusic and also the MusikalischenExequien by Heinrich Schütz. Thishas meant that they have madeappearances with a mixed lineup,including singers and otherinstrumentalists. In addition theensemble has become involved withdramatic productions, a new sphereof work for them. After working ona renaissance show with music byOrlando di Lasso and the madrigalcomedy La Pazzia Senil by AdrianoBanchieri, the ensemble, togetherwith the Baroque Dance TheatreBremen, has produced the serenataAmore doppio for the Potsdam MusicFestival in Sanssouci. The first CDrecording of this work by GiovanniBattista Bononcini was released atthis festival in June 1996. Clori, Tirsi eFileno will have its first performanceas a dramatic production in theHandel Festival Hall in June 1997.16 17
