FunctionP2000 SK Pistolloaded and decocked48Pulling back the trigger actuates thecocking latch and the hammer, causingthem to strike forward.The cartridge is ignited by the hammerstriking the primer.Upon ignition of the cartridge, as areaction to bullet movement the force-lockedbarrel-slide group receivesan impulse and, still locked, movesbackwards against the force ofthe recoil spring. After a short jointrecoil travel of barrel and slide thebarrel is unlocked from the slide.The barrel tilts due to the control surfaceson the barrel shoulder and recoilspring guide.The slide recoils on its own, extractsand ejects the spent case, cocks thecocking piece and hammer (V3). Therecoil is limited and dampened bythe stop sleeve.Upon completion of the recoil, thecompressed recoil spring pushesthe slide forwards again. A cartridgeis taken along from the magazineand introduced into the chamber.During forward movement of the slide,the hammer also returns forwardto its rest position.A short time before the end of theforward travel of the slide, the barrelis pushed upwards via the controlsurfaces of the recoil spring guideand locked to the slide.
