JURA
GOLUB
“In the initial stages, my primary materials were metals (gold, silver and bronze).
More recently, however, given my passion for colour, I have shifted to resin combined
with metals: a newcomer being titanium. The main influence has been Russian
art, followed by the world cultural heritage in its many different forms as I
experienced it when travelling, reading literature and visiting museums. In my work,
I seek to present my concept of beauty and aesthetics, while maintaining my own
specific artistic identity.
Making jewellery has always been my life’s desire that I was able to realise at the
Technical College for Metalwork in Krasnoe on the Volga, where I graduated in
1987. My first exhibitions were in the Soviet Union (Moscow, Volgograd and Kostroma,
for example). On coming to Austria in 1990, I continued to show my work in
various countries, such as Germany, the United States and Spain where I have
been living since 2012.“
Articles on Jura Golub‘s work have appeared in Kunsthandwerk + Design (2002)
and my work is also to be found in New Rings (Thames & Hudson 2011), Art Jewelry
Today: Europe (Schiffer Publishing Ltd. 2014), as well as in Maker Magic (2014).
