During the course of expanding the product portfolio
at ABICOR BINZEL, the strategic alliance with
Scansonic GmbH with its place of business in Berlin-
Weissensee was formed in 2008. Scansonic is an
innovative company with emphasis on the development
and production of laser optics and adaptive processing
heads for the automatic laser and arc joining
technology. In the area of laser processing heads for
semi-conductor lasers in particular, Scansonic has
acquired an outstanding market position.
Semi-conductor lasers have the decisive advantage
that they can be delivered to the processing site using
light-conductors even for performances in the kWrange.
That makes the semi-conductor laser the ideal
tool for joining processes with robots.
Today's car chassis are produced with the latest
state-of-the-art production technology, e.g. the joining
with lasers. A process that increases productivity and
firmly connects components and thus provides the
chassis itself with a high degree of rigidity even with
very thin plate thicknesses. The laser technology
enables designers to implement their ideas of clear
aesthetic contours in the best possible manner.
When quality of the seam in stability and aesthetic
appearance with simultaneously high processing
speeds is important then one question is decisive: How
is the laser guided over the pile when joining body
parts? Precise systems for weld control and wire feed
are indispensible especially for welding seams that are
located in the visible range. Many systems for weld
control available on the market only meet these
requirements to a limited extent, due to the feed to the
laser beam or sensitivity to light, reflections and contamination.
High demands are also made on the wire
feed with regard to fluctuations in the feed speed and
positioning accuracy to the weld's centre. Optimum
weld control, combined with constant wire feed,
ensures that the requirements of the modern frame-andbody
construction in the visible area without rework
are met.
