Im Oktober 1987 wurde anlässlich einer Sitzung in Randa die
Idee eines Golfplatzes diskutiert. Eine Interessegemeinschaft
befasste sich mit diesen Überlegungen und im Jahre 1988
wurde die Golf Mischabel AG gegründet. Die ersten Golfer
von Zermatt gründeten am 17. September 1990 den Golf Club
Matterhorn und begannen mit der Planung des Golfplatzes
zwischen Randa und Täsch, im Orte genannt „Schalli“. Das
Projekt stiess von Anfang an auf grosses Interesse unter den
Einheimischen. Leider verunmöglichten damals zahlreiche
Schwierigkeiten die Verwirklichung des geplanten Platzes.
Der Golf Club Matterhorn war aber, ohne über einen
eigenen Platz zu verfügen, trotzdem sehr aktiv. Dank dem
Entgegenkommen der Gebrüder Bernard und Christian Seiler,
konnte man im Schalli einen 6-Loch-Platz (ohne Greens)
und ein Driving Range (ohne Ballmaschine) einrichten. Dies
erlaubte zahlreichen Anfängern diesen herrlichen Sport in einer
freundschaftlichen Atmosphäre zu entdecken.
Die Stimmbürger der Gemeinde Randa stimmten 1992 der
Umzonung der landwirtschaftlichen Fläche in eine Golfzone

in dem Gebiet Atermenzen und Schalli zu. 1996 bestimmte
der Staat Wallis den Standort Randa-Täsch für den Bau eines
Golfplatzes. Während gut 10 Jahren verhandelte die Golf
Mischabel AG mit einem der Hauptbodenbesitzer, jedoch konnte
bezüglich des Kaufpreises keine Einigkeit gefunden werden.
Im Jahre 1999 strukturierte sich die Golf Mischabel AG neu und
schloss mit über 60 Bodenbesitzern einen langjährigen Mietvertrag
ab. Ende August 2000 unterbreitete die Golf Mischabel AG
dem Kanton Wallis einen Bericht zur Voruntersuchung und den
UVP-Pflichtenheftentwurf. Gleichzeitig wurde das Projekt den
Umweltverbänden Pro Natura und WWF vorgestellt. Anfangs
Februar 2001 hatte die Golf Mischabel AG das Baugesuch für
den Bau eines 9-Loch Golfplatzes in Randa-Täsch eingereicht.
Gegen dieses Baugesuch wurden drei Einsprachen erhoben.
Zwei vorsorgliche Einsprachen konnten geregelt werden. Für
die dritte Einsprache fand man die Lösung, indem man die
bestimmte Parzelle nicht mehr integrierte.
Im Frühling 2002, am 29. April, erfolgte der erste Spatenstich
für den neuen Golfplatz und ein Jahr später wurde der Parcours
eingesäht. Im Januar 2004 wurde der Golf Club Matterhorn
in den Schweizerischen Golfverband (ASG) aufgenommen
und im gleichen Jahr, am 17. Juni, wurde der Spielbetrieb
aufgenommen.

In October of 1987, a meeting was held in Randa to discuss
the idea of constructing a golf course. A company was then
formed in 1988 under the name Golf Michabel AG. The
Golf Club Matterhorn was created in 1989 by Zermatt’s first
golfers. At that time, there was already a plan to construct a
course between Randa and Tasch, at a place called Schalli.
From the start, a large number of local figures expressed
interest in the project. Unfortunately, several problems
impeded the construction of the course.
The Golf Club Matterhorn, although without a true golf
course, was already very active. A six hole course without
greens, as well as a driving range (without a ball machine),
was created at Schalli. This permitted many beginners
to discover this wonderful sport in a warm and friendly
atmosphere.
A change of zone assignment, from agricultural to leisure
(golf), was approved by the population of Randa in 1992.
The Canton of Valais gave its approval for the construction

of a golf course on the land of Randa-Täsch in 1996. For a
good 10 years, Golf Mischabel AG was in proceedings with
the principal land owners of the zone intended for the golf
course, without reaching an agreement on the price for the
sale of the land.
In 1999, the restructured Mischabel Golf AG reached
a long-term agreement for the lease of land with more
than 60 owners. At the end of August 2000, Mischabel
Golf AG submitted a first-draft plan to the canton of
Valais. Simultaneously, the project was presented to two
environmental conservation groups, Pro Natura and the
World Wildlife Fund. At the beginning of February 2001,
a public survey was taken regarding a 9 hole golf course in
Randa-Täsch. There were three oppositions, two of which
were retracted while the third, a questionable parcel of
land, was removed from the perimeter concerned.
The start of the work took place in the spring of 2002, on
April 29, and one year later, the entire course could be
sawn. In January 2004, the Golf Club Matterhorn became
a member of the Swiss Golf Association and a few months
later, on June 17 2004, the course was opened.
