Porsche-Kundenzentrum, Leipzig/D
Porsche Customer Centre, Leipzig/D
Herr Marg, das Kundenzentrum im
Porsche-Werk in Leipzig basiert auf den
gültigen CI-Vorgaben von Porsche.
Welche sind das, und was davon hat Ihre
Entwurfsidee direkt beeinflusst?
Porsche hatte bereits die Erstellung von
Corporate Identity-Richtlinien in Auftrag gegeben
und aus der Schweiz erhalten. Diese
lagen also vor. Darin sind Formen, Materialien
und Farben – für die Kundenzentren ein zylindrischer
Rundbau als Kern, anthrazit-schwarze
Keramikfußböden bestimmter Qualität, ein
genau bestimmter Silberton etc. – festgelegt.
betraut. Wenn Sie sich diese
Hallen ansehen, werden Sie merken, dass sie
eine perfekte Fabrikation beherbergen: Eine
saubere, lichtdurchflutete, helle und sehr
farbenreiche Fabrik. Durch ein Wettbewerbsverfahren
war ein holländischer Architekt
bestimmt worden, der das Erscheinungsbild
der Werkhallen von außen gestaltet hatte
und das zukünftige Kundenzentrum entwerfen
sollte. Vorher, quasi als Test, hat er das
Kundenzentrum vis-a-vis der Fabrik in Zuffenhausen
erstellt. Und was Wendelin Wiedeking
da erlebte, hat ihn geärgert. Er mochte sich
nicht auf dieses ganz andere Niveau baulicher
Architekt Prof. Volkwin Marg,
Professor Marg, the Customer Centre
at the Porsche plant in Leipzig is based
on Porsche’s current corporate identity
specifications. What are these and how
did they directly influence your design?
Porsche had already commissioned corporate
identity guidelines to be drawn up in
Switzerland, so these were in place. They
specify shapes, materials and colours – for
the customer centre: a round cylindrical
construction as the core, anthracite-black
ceramic floors of a particular quality, a
specific tone of silver etc. A comprehensive
corporate identity has been set out, right
down to which fonts should be used.
Did you agree with the specifications or
were there, in your view, other important
architectural features that had a greater
bearing on your design?
The decision by Porsche to build a plant in
Leipzig was a long-standing one. There was
already a master plan geared towards growth,
and Agiplan was already familiar with the
factory halls, the actual industrial architecture.
If you look at these halls, you will notice that
they house production perfectly, providing a
clean, light, airy and colourful factory. A
Dutch architect originally won the commission
to design the exterior appearance of the
factory halls and the future customer centre.
First, almost as a test, he built the customer
centre opposite the factory in Zuffenhausen.
But Wendelin Wiedeking was not enamoured
by such a different level of structural
imperfection, and so our Berlin team was
commissioned to build the customer centre in
Leipzig, the ideal place for shipping the new
“Cayenne” model.
The layout of the plant had already been
defined. The construction of the factory was
already under way, with sandwich panel
