The year 2011 will see the biggest cultural
and tourist event in the Free State
of Saxony. From May to October the city
on the Neiße river will host the third
Saxon State Exhibition. Entitled “via regia
– 800 years of movement and mobility”
the exhibition enables visitors
a spectacular journey through time
alongside central Europe’s oldest trade
routes. Görlitz owes its extraordinary
splendor to its location on the via regia.
The richness and beauty can still
be experienced nowadays. In the course
of only a few hundred metres there are
treasures to be discovered here covering
over half a millennium of European
architectural history.
