ist in CML (Common
und kann innerhalb eines
Spannungsbereiches von
2,3V bis 5,7V betrieben
werden.
Mit den UB2G5 Bausteinen
lassen sich drei
Backplane- und Netzwerk-
Topologien verwirklichen:
• eine Star-Topologie, für
kostengünstige Systeme
mit hoher Datenrate und
zentralem Switch
• eine Dual-Star Topologie
für redundante Systeme
mit zwei zentralen
Switches (Abb. 1)
• eine Fully-Meshed
Topologie für
kostengünstige Systeme
ohne zentralen Switch
(Abb. 2)
Im Folgenden werden die
besonderen Features und
Vorteile dieser Bausteine
anhand von zwei
Applikationsbeispielen
– einem redundanten
DSLAM System und
einem vollvernetzten
Industrierechner – erläutert.
DSLAM Systeme
Ein DSLAM (Digital
Subscriber Line Access
Multiplex) System ist das
Element eines Kommunikationsnetzwerkes,
das
mit den DSL Modems der
jeweils angeschlossenen
Anwender kommuniziert
und die Daten in
den schnellen Datenpfad
des übergeordneten
Netzwerkes multiplext.
DSLAM Systeme bestehen
im allgemeinen aus
mehreren Line-Cards
und aus einer oder (im
Falle eines redundan-
ten Systems) auch zwei
Uplink-Karten. Auf den
Line-Cards befinden sich
die DSL Modems, die mit
den entsprechenden DSL
The following text
describes the special
features and advantages
of these components with
two application examples
– one redundant DSLAM
system and one fully
meshed industrial computer.
DSLAM systems
A DSLAM (Digital
Subscriber Line Access
Multiplex) system is the
element of a communication
network, which communicates
with the DSL
modems of the connected
user and multiplexes the
data into the fast data
path of the superordinated
network. In general
DSLAM systems consist of
several line cards and one
Figure 3: DSLAM Architektur für bis zu 30 Line-Cards / DSLAM architecture for up to 30 line cards.
or (in case of a redundant
systems) two uplink cards.
The line cards accommodate
the DSL modems
which communicate with
the corresponding user
DSL modems. The uplink
cards contain communication
components
which interface to the
network. Figure 3 shows
such a system, in which
up to eight line cards are
connected to the switch.
Commonly used DSL
modems on the line card
use UTOPIA-L2 interfaces
to communicate with the
UB2G5-LC.
For applications on the
Utopia line card the
UB2G5-LC offers one 8-bit
microcontroller interface,
four 8-bit or two 16-bit
wide UTOPIA-L2 interfaces
as well as in total
four independent SERDES
ports, two for “Work” and
two for “Protect”. The
UB2G5-LC connects the
UTOPIA-L2 interface of the
DSL modems to the fast
SERDES backplane interfaces.
