INITIATIVES OF CHANGE [IofC] @ PANCHGANI, PUNE Initiatives of Change is a centre at Panchgani, Pune with an objective to bring a change in the world in order to make this world a better place to live. IofC is a worldwide movement of people of diverse cultures and backgrounds, who are committed to the transformation of society through changes in human motives and behavior, starting with their own. Its vision is to create a just, peaceful and sustainable world to which everyone, responding to the call of conscience, makes their unique contributions. Its mission is to inspire, equip and connect people to address world needs, starting with themselves and work worldwide on many initiatives through a network of individuals, groups and organizations. Also it focuses on….. Trust building: Peace and social cohesion through trust and reconciliation Ethical Leadership: Developing a leadership culture based on moral integrity, compassion and selfless service. Sustainable living: Economic justice and environmental sustainability by transformation of motives and behavior. Ten of us from the leadership team had the opportunity to attend a workshop on Education Today Society Tomorrow [ETST] at IofC in May <strong>2015</strong>. The ETST workshops aim at value education which will lead to the formation of an ethical society tomorrow. It works towards bringing the passion back into the teaching profession by initiating positive changes in the way an individual thinks, learns and interacts, leading to holistic improvement in the educational scenario in India and the world. The workshop addressed all the relevant domains of teachers being as a person, as a facilitator, as an administrator and as a changemaker. The serenity and tranquility of the place, the initiatives taken by the organization, the culture and clarity has given all of us an excellent life time memorable experience. We understood that as educators the onus responsibility lies on our shoulders in shaping a child’s personality as a person’s formative years are spent in the school which is a sacred place to shape one’s attitudes and values. As teachers it is also our moral duty to create a sustainable, respectful and peaceful society. Drawing inspiration from this workshop the school has hosted a Round Table Conference on 5th August for Principals of Schools to discuss on Reinventing Schools Rebuilding the World. 24
