DECISIONS<br />

Under Part 6 <strong>of</strong> the Broadcasting Services Act 1992, the Australian Broadcasting<br />

Authority has decided to:<br />

• allocate <strong>community</strong> <strong>radio</strong> <strong>broadcasting</strong> licence SL1150694 (90.7 MHz) to<br />

Student Youth Network Inc <strong>for</strong> a period <strong>of</strong> five years commencing on 1 January<br />

2002;<br />

• allocate <strong>community</strong> <strong>radio</strong> <strong>broadcasting</strong> licence SL1150695 (89.9 MHz) to Triple<br />

Seven Communications Inc <strong>for</strong> a period <strong>of</strong> five years commencing on 1 January<br />

2002;<br />

• allocate <strong>community</strong> <strong>radio</strong> <strong>broadcasting</strong> licence SL1150722 (1503 kHz) to The<br />

South Eastern Indigenous Media Association Inc <strong>for</strong> a period <strong>of</strong> five years<br />

commencing on 1 January 2002; and<br />

• allocate <strong>community</strong> <strong>radio</strong> <strong>broadcasting</strong> licence SL1150683 (94.9 MHz) to Joy<br />

Melbourne Inc <strong>for</strong> a period <strong>of</strong> five years commencing on 1 January 2002.<br />

REPORT OF HEARING<br />

Pursuant to s199 <strong>of</strong> the Broadcasting Services Act 1992 [the Act], if the ABA has<br />

completed a hearing it is obliged to prepare and publish a report setting out its<br />

findings as a result <strong>of</strong> the hearing.<br />

Between 13 and 17 August 2001, the ABA conducted a hearing concerning the<br />

applications it received <strong>for</strong> the three available Melbourne-wide <strong>community</strong> <strong>radio</strong><br />

<strong>broadcasting</strong> <strong>licences</strong> and the available Melbourne City <strong>community</strong> <strong>radio</strong><br />

<strong>broadcasting</strong> licence.<br />

This report contains the ABA's findings as a result <strong>of</strong> the hearing.<br />
