Carol Leifer came out at
40, got Bat Mitzvahed
at 45, and adopted a son
at 50. A former Seinfeld
writer, Leifer is a 52year-old
lesbian Jewish
stand-up comedian
from Long Island. She’s
amassed an impressive
résumé producing or writing for The
Larry Sanders Show, Saturday Night Live,
and The Ellen Show. She’s headlined her
own HBO specials, appeared on The
Tonight Show (with both Johnny Carson
and Jay Leno), Late Night With David
Letterman , and Politically Incorrect with
Bill Maher, and last March released her

the Terrorists Win, talking about her
evolution from straight to gay, being a
lesbian mom, and why getting older isn’t
such a bad thing.

Book Sale
Sun., Mar. 21 • 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Recycle your old, gently used books to
sell at our annual sale. Please bring all
your unwanted novels, biographies and
non-fi ction books to the library and
register for your free library card at the
same time.
If you have books of Jewish content that
we are able to use in our library, thank
you. All other books will be for sale at
our usually discounted price of name
your own price! There will be a large
container at the J from Jan. 3-Mar. 14
to collect books.
All proceeds will benefi t the library. This
is the only fund raiser we have during
the year and it enables us to expand our
services and programs to the Tucson
community.

Tennis
Members can enjoy the free use of our
six classic clay tennis courts as a benefi t
of membership. For a fee, we also offer
tennis classes for all skill levels. Because
of the mild winter temperatures in Tucson,
classes are year round.
We offer:
• 20 hours of adult tennis programming
per week via 11 different adult clinics,
drill & plays, team practices and
academies.
• 15 hours of junior tennis programming
per week via 7 different junior clinics,
and academies.

We have Men’s and Ladies’ Teams which
compete in USTA and interclub leagues
and our ladies A-3 Team just won the
league championship.

Splash-N-Dash
A continuous swim/run competitive
event for all ages 6 through 99! Held
on various Sundays in March, April,
and May! A series of three biathlons
with prizes and awards for all around

lap swimmers, and runners!
