Chartered Clubs We are coming upon the time of year when our Chartered Clubs begin their new year with the election of board members. Chartered Clubs are the backbone of our Sun City Shadow Hills lifestyle as clubs offer the opportunity for the direct influence of each resident into daily, weekly, and monthly activities. With over 40 clubs and groups there is a wide variety of activities to share with your neighbors. As a general overview to the operation of each club, the membership of the club will select at least three willing (or sometimes not so willing) participants from its membership to conduct the business of the club and guide it in its activities. Although the role of board member for each club is very important, much of the success comes from the effort, work, and support of all the members as a whole. The most active and successful clubs work together and support one another for the greater benefit of all. These clubs have no shortage of volunteers wanting to participate at various levels without hesitation including the tasks of setting up and operating the activities. Pointing out that the underlying success of each club depends on the great membership by no means undermines the significance of the clubs’ elected board members. It takes those elected as your club board and their sense of fairness and goodwill as well as strong character to lead in the decision making process. For those willing to come forward and give of their own time to help improve the quality of life for their neighbors it takes a strong person with a sense of community. If I just described you and you are not currently involved with a club make sure you stop by the Lifestyle desk to visit with our staff so they can get you involved. Help is always wanted, needed, and appreciated at all levels of availability, so if you want to get involved with an existing club or start up a new one, our Lifestyle department is here to help. the iew From the General Manager BY LYNN P. GILLIAM GENERAL MANAGER Upcoming Age Verification Survey Sun City Shadow Hills Community Association is an age-restricted community operated in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws. Pursuant to state and federal law, every owner of, or person residing in, a home in Sun City Shadow Hills must complete an “Age Verification Form” to certify his/her eligibility to reside in our active adult community. Without proper age verification, Sun City Shadow Hills could lose its status as an Adult (55 and older) Community. When you purchased your home in Sun City Shadow Hills you were asked to fill out age verification information based on the occupants residing in your residence at the time. Soon you should receive a mailing from the Association office asking you to update your residency information. Please fill this out, whether there have been changes in the status of persons living in your household or not, by checking the appropriate locations on the form and return the form to the Association office as soon as possible. If there have been changes to the status of your household, the Association office will follow up with you once they have received your initial form back in the mail. Once all forms have been returned to the Association, the Board of directors will be able to certify that the Association continues to meet the qualifications as an Adult (55 and older) Community. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Association staff. We will be glad to help you or direct your questions to the proper staff member so that your questions are answered in a timely manner.
