Writer’s Club
The purpose of our Writer’s Club is
to encourage each other to write on a
regular basis. It does not matter if you are
writing for therapy or you have ambitions to have
your work published, all are welcome to try their hand.
Fiction, non-fiction, autobiographies, memoirs,
screenplays, it does not matter what you are writing; we
are interested in your work. Write a page a day for a year
and you have a book!
Try your hand at writing that story you have always
wanted to tell. Each meeting we ask that you bring along
two – three pages of something you have written to read
to our group and we critique it (gently), offering ideas
and sometimes direction.
We discuss different aspects of writing drawn from
articles and websites. We will look at different avenues of
getting our writing in front of a wider audience: blogs,
self-publishing, and competitions.
The Writer’s Club meets twice a month on Thursdays
in the Santa Rosa Clubhouse; and we are the only free
club in SCSH, no membership dues.

Democrats
The Democrats of SCSH will not
hold monthly meetings in June, July, or
August on our usual fourth Wednesday
of the month but will resume meetings
on Wednesday, September 26. Mark your
calendars and join us for a welcome-back potluck
and then view an enlightening documentary with us
about how politics is funded – and controlled – by some
super-rich donors.
If you are a Democrat, or a “no party preference”
(formerly “decline-to-state”) voter, and would like to be
added to our email list for news updates and announcements

established for registered Democrats to meet, learn, and

Republicans
Sun City Shadow Hills Republicans
met on Thursday, May 10, in the
Montecito Clubhouse. Our special guest
speakers were Mayor Glenn Miller and Corky Emett,
candidate for the 56th Assembly District. Mayor Miller
discussed current Indio finances and how they affect
our services. Ms. Emett discussed issues relevant to her
campaign for election to the California Assembly.
Our group is aggressively pursuing its voter registration
drive. Look for our voter registration booths around the
community. A registration booth was manned at the
April 28th parking lot sale as well as in the Montecito
Clubhouse on May 4. We will be happy to assist you with
your registration regardless of your party affiliation. In
these times, voting is not only a right but an obligation.
In these perilous times, it is important that everyone not
only register, but get out and vote.

Bocce The Bocce club is forming! We
currently play Fridays at 9 am at the
Santa Rosa Clubhouse bocce courts.

Motorcycle Rides Motorcycle riders
(guys and gals), it’s time to do our
weekly rides. We leave from the
Montecito Clubhouse every Wednesday
morning. Summer ride hours have been
changed to 8:30 am. This will remain in
effect through the summer months to make riding more
comfortable. We would like to have you on board! Join
us for some fun times on two wheels with the wind
