The Environmental Protection Division provides environmental monitoring, permitting and<br />

enforcement of air quality, solid waste disposal, and occupational health and workplace safety. In<br />

addition, the division is charged with controlling the beneficial uses of ionizing radiation, while<br />

providing for protection against intrinsic hazards that it can pose to workers, the public and the<br />

environment, through the Radiation Control Bureau.<br />

The Field Operations and Infrastructure Division provides services to communities, local<br />

governments and tribes that improve water quality, drinking water infrastructure and sewage<br />

treatment systems across the state. In addition it oversees 22 field offices around New Mexico<br />

that provide services for residents and business owners, including the Food Program, the Liquid<br />

Waste program and the Swimming Pool Program. The division through the Construction Programs<br />

Bureau, offers low interest loans from the Clean Water State Revolving Loan Fund and the Drinking<br />

Water State Revolving Loan Fund.<br />

GENERAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT<br />

The New Mexico General Services Department (GSD) is the heart and soul of state government and<br />

provides comprehensive and responsive support services in an efficient, effective, and competitive<br />

manner to public sector organizations. The Building Services Division provides direct daily care and<br />

services (including custodial, building and grounds maintenance, security, and utilities management<br />

for properties owned by the Executive Branch within the City of Santa Fe). The Property Control<br />

Division (1) provides statewide oversight and capital repair of buildings owned by the Executive<br />

Branch; (2) is responsible for leases of privately owned space for state agency use; and (3) provides<br />

statewide oversight on construction of new state facilities. The Risk Management Division (1)<br />

provides self-insured protection for state employees and state-owned assets; and (2) oversees the<br />

benefits and insurance, claims, legal, loss control, and workers’ compensation bureaus. The State<br />

Purchasing Division is responsible for (1) the procurement of services, construction, and items of<br />

tangible personal property for all state agencies; and (2) oversees the procurement assistance program.<br />

The Transportation Services Division (1) provides or coordinates vehicle and air transportation<br />

services to state agency employees on official business; and (2) oversees the state and federal surplus<br />

property programs. The State Printing and Graphics Division provides state-of-the-art graphic<br />

arts, printing and copying services for state government agencies. The Administrative Services<br />

Division provides administrative and financial services for the department. The Technology and<br />

Systems Support Bureau provides centralized information technology, consultation and that<br />

require dedicated IT support personnel who are knowledgeable of GSD business needs which will<br />

allow for the best use of technology and system support.<br />
