How do we find our balance when everything around us is accelerating? How do we remain calm when our hearts respond to the anguish of our global community, ravished by earthquakes and floods. I had a dream last night. I was watching a form of warfare between people. Words were being hurled, followed by exclamation points. The words entered our bodies and became bombs and the exclamation points were triggers, or activators of the bombs. I was able to see inside people and some were full of all those word bombs. They were like cells in the body, ready to explode with the next trigger. I began shouting: "No! Don't fire another bomb. We will destroy each other until no one is left on the planet". So many were unaware of the bombs inside them or the bombs they were firing at others and sometimes planting within their own being! Some were very aware and side stepping, bouncing and ducking out of the way! 10
We are living in stressful times. That is no secret. We need ways to diffuse the stress bombs insides ourselves. We can start with our words. Words carry so much weight. Remember the old adage "Sticks and stones can break my bones but names will never hurt me". That is so untrue! When someone is angry with us, jealous or resentful, we feel that energy in our body and it affects our health, on all levels. We have memories in our mind and emotions and in our physical body, of words that were spoken to us long ago that can still be affecting us to this day. We can begin by observing our words, choosing our words more carefully. Say a few negative words and notice how you feel in your body. Then, say words like sunshine, kindness, love, starlight, blessings, Goddess, sweetness, and see how your body feels. We can bless and inspire with words or we can curse and weaken with words. Let us focus on being more aware of the words that we use with others and also self talk. It also helps us to be more in the present moment. At the end of the day, send out light and love to clear any negative energy that might have escaped us in an unaware moment and also clear our own energy. We can "clean up our mess". We are human beings and we are here to experience emotion, but we have not been taught how to do that safely. The key is to not "send it out” to someone. My teacher, Sandra Ingerman, suggests, that when we are angry we can say: "I am really angry right now and I just need to express it, but I do not want to harm anyone so I ask that this anger be transformed into love and light." I find that by the time I have said this, my anger has dissipated! We can call on the elements to help us. Here is a suggestion for working with the element Fire: Face the sun wherever you can, from inside your house or outside in nature, close your eyes and let the golden light and fire of the sun fill you up with glowing light, from head to toe. Let your head fill with golden sunlight. Let your torso, back and front, fill with golden sunlight. Let your arms and hands, legs and feet, fill with golden light until you are one glowing being of golden light. Relax in the light and fire of the sun and feel it clearing and nurturing you, renewing your energy. Breathe it in deeply and see it filling every cell of our being. Focus that light where you have discomfort in your body or emotions, and let yourself be the golden light of the sun... and then, if you will, hold a vision of the earth within your light and see it fill the earth and everything upon it.
