Eucalyptus Radiata
By Wendy Lee
Essential Oil is extracted from fresh leaves or end stems
over a year old. 100 kg of plant will yield 1.5-2.5 litres of
oil over a 2-3 hr. distillation time. There are 31 molecules,
of which 14 make up 98.7% of the EO. Interestingly, this
tree has very deep roots in order to reach the water table,
avoiding mosquito larvae and disease carrying insects. The
essence production is linked to the cosmic process of light
through the leaves, and represent the lungs.
Its therapeutic properties are as follows: It is highly
anti-infectious: anti-bacterial, anti-viral. Eucalyptus
radiate is also anti-catarrh, expectorant, mucolyptic, which
makes it ideal for treating colds, bronchitis, coughs. Its
Immune modulant characteristics make it a versatile oil
for all ages, to boost the immune system and to support it
during times of illness. Also energizing, this oil is a must
for people suffering from chronic fatigue, via inhalation
or topical application.
A very refreshing, and medicinally aromatic oil, blackgum
eucalyptus is a must for the cold & flu season! When
mixed with tea tree, pine and black spruce, a fabulous cold
fighting remedy results. Simply apply a few drops of the
pure oils with a neutral base cream or organic vegetable
oil. Take a hot shower, pat dry and apply the formula to
the body, key areas of neck, lungs, along spine and base
of feet at the onset of symptoms. The pure oils can also be
used in a diffuser or nebulizer for inhalation therapy.
Caution can be given to those with very severe asthma as
the high cineole content could induce a mild attack. Avoid
all essential oils during pregnancy.
