SOUNDS OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM ~ Crystal Journey in Concert with David Hickey<br />
“Out of this world” would be a good way to describe what<br />
happened at Karen Woodley’s Healing Within concert hall<br />
in Gananoque on September 14th. The acoustics were<br />
absolutely perfect for David to weave his magic.<br />
David’s performance consisted of two 45 minute sets and<br />
included over a dozen quartz crystal bowls, Planet gongs,<br />
a Vibraphone, a Santoor and other various percussion<br />
instruments.<br />
Un-amplified, pre-recorded or rehearsed David’s<br />
performance are sonically pure and unique and the almost<br />
full house was taken on a journey that was mystical,<br />
entertaining and healing.<br />
It is impossible to convey in words the resonance of the<br />
gongs and the penetrating vibrations of the crystal bowls<br />
that touched us to the core. Taking us out of our incessant<br />
mind chatter and into the present moment we found our<br />
place among the stars.<br />
As for David, there were moments when he admitted he<br />
felt there were moments that he moved from playing to<br />
instruments to “being played”.<br />
Speaking with him after the show I found him to be a<br />
wonderful human being whose mission in life appears to<br />
be to assist his audience in slowing down the hectic pace<br />
of life, if even just for a few moments.<br />
David performs beautifully and incessantly, and if you can<br />
I would recommend that you catch his show at Pranashanti<br />
Yoga Centre in Ottawa on <strong>October</strong> 8th, or when he comes<br />
