1. A REGULAR <strong>Ensemble</strong>. A regular ensemble may not be conducted.<br />

2. No Permission or Transfer<br />

3. For 4 or 8 voices singing four part music with an equal number <strong>of</strong> voices on a part. A student may only enter this event once.<br />

4. Class A <strong>and</strong> B vocal selections may be transposed up or down as much as a minor third into a key that best accommodates the<br />

tessitura <strong>of</strong> the voices. There are no transposition restrictions in Class C vocal ensembles.<br />

5. When English <strong>and</strong> another language are printed in the quartet, the students may select either language.<br />

6. An accompanist must not exceed 15 accompaniments for any WSMA festival. Use synthesized, prerecorded, <strong>and</strong>/or computer<br />

s<strong>of</strong>tware programs when accompanists are difficult to find.<br />

7. Class A <strong>and</strong> B ensembles must sing unaccompanied (a cappella) any selection which states, a cappella or accompaniment for rehearsal only.<br />

Class C ensembles are exempt from this rule.<br />

8. A member <strong>of</strong> the ensemble is expected to introduce the performance at WSMA <strong>District</strong> <strong>and</strong> State Festivals, including performer<br />

<strong>and</strong> accompanist names, name <strong>of</strong> school, title <strong>and</strong> composer <strong>of</strong> piece (<strong>and</strong> if appropriate, movements being performed), <strong>and</strong><br />

briefly describe a significant aspect <strong>of</strong> style, form, technique, harmony, rhythm, or melody in the piece.<br />
