Event 1529 - Madrigal Ensemble
Teacher Online Data Entry: Enter EventClassSelection, i.e., 1529A11. Allotted Performance Time: All Classes = 10 min.
1. A SPECIAL Ensemble. This SPECIAL ensemble may only be directed by a student performing from within the ensemble.
2. No Permission or Transfer
3. For up to 20 unaccompanied singers
4. A student may perform once in Event 1519 and once in Event 1529. See rule VI.B.20.
5. Perform one selection within 10 minutes.
6. Events 1519 and 1529 must be performed without accompaniment.
7. Class A and B vocal selections may be transposed up or down as much as a minor third into a key that best accommodates the
tessitura of the voices. There are no transposition restrictions on Class C vocal ensembles.
8. When English and another language are printed in the madrigral, the students may select either language.
9. A member of the ensemble is expected to introduce the performance at WSMA District and State Festivals, including performer
and accompanist names, name of school, title and composer of piece (and if appropriate, movements being performed), and
briefly describe a significant aspect of style, form, technique, harmony, rhythm, or melody in the piece.
