agreement to acquire Southport Boat Works. The agreement is
scheduled to be consummated within the next few weeks. As part of
the transaction, AGYG will continue to produce Southport fiberglass
sport fishing boats in their current facility. Southport builds
a premier line of high quality sport fishing boats in 26 and 28-foot
models at its 52,000 square foot facility in Leland, NC. The company

Marlow Marine Sales, Inc. hosted its annual Spring Rendezvous at
the Ocean Reef Club on March 26 – 29. This exclusive private club
setting allowed an entertaining and memorable time for the Cruise
Club’s 80 attendees. Our members were kept as busy as they wanted
to be with many activities to choose from. The days included entertaining
and educational seminars. High winds subsided long enough
on Saturday for the die hard fishermen to board “Mimi”, a 59’
Sportfish for a deep sea fishing excursion. On Saturday afternoon,
our members gathered on the docks to celebrate four Marlow
Explorer christenings. In existence for over 14 years, the Marlow
Marine Cruising Club’s rendezvous is held annually. Members
include Marlow Explorer owners and owners of other quality yachts.

Richard Kniffin with The Marine Group in Ft. Lauderdale has been
appointed the Director of Marine Operations for the University of
Miami (UM). This senior management position includes overseeing
the operations of the R/V Walton Smith, a highly advanced 96’
(40’beam) catamaran research vessel that carries up to 16 scientists
and a crew of 6. Additionally, he will direct the UM Diving Safety
Office with its very busy regional scientific diving operations.
Other responsibilities include the UM Port of Miami Ship Support
Facility, small boat operations (under 40’) and the Research Vessel
Technical Services Group based at Harbor Branch Oceanographic
Institute in Ft. Pierce, Florida. His office is located at the University
of Miami Rosenstiel School on Virginia Key, Florida (Key
Biscayne). Richard will continue his yacht broker association with
The Marine Group.
