along with Rupert Connor met April 14th at
the American Yacht Institute (AYI) to discuss
committee goals and plans for the upcoming
year. FYBA member Jim Wilkey facilitated the
session and guided the committee though the
session, helping them to identify objectives
and problems. The program began with a recap
of 2008 events and accomplishments, including
two successful seminars: Education Charter
Seminar in July and Charter Destinations
Seminar in October.
AYI owner Kristin Cavallini-Soothill welcomed
the committee and gave a short presentation
on what the AYI does and the courses it
offers. The AYI is a professional training facility
for land and sea that specializes in training
future professional staff as well as the presently
employed in each respective industry.
This was the first planning session held for the committee
and featured lively discussions on growing the
global charter market, promoting the value of the Charter
membership in FYBA, and fostering a greater understanding
of common charter issue with continuing education and certification
programs.
