K.U.Leuven Abstract: The project aims to show how the way in which Imperial literature was produced and consumed contributed to the fact that the topperformers of this era - who produced a major part of the extant literature - often display narcissistic character traits, traces of which can be found in their lives and literary works. Moreover, the direct contact between the author and his audience during literary performances brought about a climate in which success and failure (along with potential traumas) could be very close to each other. Through studies of texts by Philostratus, Aulus Gellius, Favorinus, Aelius Aristides, Lucian, Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius, the project aims to open new perspectives on the interaction between socio-cultural data and psychological conditions, while simultaneously, through a thorough attention for the public reception of these textsand figures, questioning and exploring the culturally defined boundaries of the normal and the pathological. In Conversation With Muel Kaptein And Johan Wempe K.U.Leuven Abstract: It is well documented that ethics in the practice of managers from political, ecclesial and business contexts is wearing down in India today. Even though moral education is a mandatory subject in schools and there are specific codes of conduct expected of the managers, no one can deny the unethical behaviour on the part of the managers and other employees in both profit and non-profit making organizations. Corporate integrity seems to be a possible solution, but taken alone, it may not ensure individual integrity. Corporations are moral agents; however, individuals arethe real constitutive elements, playing important roles in the performance of corporations. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the relationship between personal integrity and corporate integrity based on the hypothesis that the personalist (subjective) approach to corporate integritymay find success while other models have failed. Jeremiah 23,1-8 in Text-Critical and Literary-Critical Perspective K.U.Leuven Abstract: The book of Prophet Jeremiah is a mixture of poetic oracles, prose narratives as well as discourses. Studying Jer 23,1-8 in my Fifth Year#s Research Paper, it is found that the said pericope is a highly debated one as it raises questions regarding the very text itself and its growth. Against this background, the present project aims to study the text of Jer23,1-8 from both a text-critical and a literary-critical point of view in order to search for its historical and actual theological meaning andrelevance. In this respect, special attention will be paid to the extent to which the discourse on leadership in Jeremiah could be related to the modern discourse on leadership in the Indian context. The present doctoral dissertation will consist of four main parts. K.U.Leuven Abstract: The proposed project will research the theme of transformation in love in the works of John of Ruusbroec, specifically Ruusbroec#s critical reworking of the central theme in the work of Marguerite Porete, who was condemned by the Inquisition in 1310. The investigation of this case studywill shed new light on the broader theme of #deification# in Christian thought in the Western Middle Ages. This theme occupied a central place in Patristic and Eastern Christian reflection, but very few studieshave focused on its later development in the medieval West. The objective of the proposed research is twofold. First, to investigate the development of the theme of deification in the tradition inherited by John of Ruusbroec (William of Saint-Thierry, (Ps.-)Hadewijch and Marguerite Porete, among others), which had become problematic resulting from Porete#s condemnation. We then seek to clarify and address the tension between coloniality and theologies# discourses on love that fail to address coloniality. In order to point towards a theology of love that can become part of a decolonial project, we engage Frantz Fanon (1925-61), who thought from the context of being victimized by French colonialism. Byusing Fanon#s thought, we seek to re-imagine and articulate a Christiantheology of love that functions as what Fanon called combat literature:literature that is itself praxis in the service of humanization. This questionrefers to 18/12/2011, but we rarely mention such a precise date spontaneously, as the calendar does not reflect our mental framework to understand time. Days of the week and holidays give a rhythm to the progress oftime, thus creating a mental chronological framework. Such frameworks are archconservative and are affected only by revolutionary changes.The mass conversion to Christianity in the fourth and fifth centuries was such a revolution: it led to the introduction of the seven-day week and new holidays.The transition from a pagan to a Christian world wasa complex process that remains poorly understood, because research too often focuses on the elite. We know when Sunday became a day of rest by law, but not when it started to be widely observed; we know when particular feasts are last attested or appear, but not yet when Christian holidays replaced pagan feasts in the shared chronological framework. K.U.Leuven Abstract: The attribution of a musical work to a composer does not seem to have been one of the more important factors of 16th-century manuscript production. This project aims to answer what anonymity meant in early modern Europe during a period of increasing composer attributions. It takes as a starting point the Alamire manuscripts, undoubtedly the most astonishingsurviving sources of Renaissance music. They comprise more than 60 choirbooks prepared at or around the Burgundian-Habsburg court between 1498 and 1534. Beautifully copied and exquisitely decorated, these products of the scribal workshop of Petrus Alamire contain over 600 polyphonic works by three generations of leading Renaissance composers. This unique complex of music manuscripts is vital to any understanding of 16th-centurymusic, but deplorably little is known about the circumstances in which they were conceived, produced, and utilized.
