So f TSheen·ca r S o n is maintaining its ranking in the American market.<br />

Its flagship franchise Dark and Lovely performed extremely well,<br />

boosted by the success of Reviving Colors, the permanent and<br />

semi-permanent hair colourant. The men’s range is also continuing<br />

to grow rapidly.<br />

In the Africa, Orient, Pacific zone, an outstanding performance in<br />

South Africa and accelerated growth in Ghana delivered an overall<br />

rise in sales of 32.4%. The main successes: the launch of two Oil<br />

Moisturisers haircare products, boosting the flagship Dark and<br />

Lovely and Restore Plus franchises, and new versions of the Sadie<br />

and Blue Ice deodorants with a large roll-on ball for optimum protection.<br />

In <strong>2008</strong>, L’Oréal acquired the 50% stake in cLu B d e S cr é aT e u r S d e<br />

Bea u T é previously held by 3 Suisses International. Its sales trend<br />

became positive at the end of the year, driven by two main growth<br />

sources. The first was the success of the innovations: the agnès b.<br />

rose-based manicure line and tinted lip balms, with 98% natural<br />

ingredient content, Professeur Christine Poelman lip-plumping<br />

balm, and the Cosmence stick for reducing under-eye bags developed<br />

with Professor Baulieu. The second was the growth of Internet<br />

sales, whose share of total sales increased in <strong>2008</strong>.<br />

The brand’s core styling range Let’s Jam has a new addition<br />

with Mega Hold vitamin E-enriched gel. This gel holds naturally<br />

brittle African hair without drying it out.<br />

For many years, L’Oréal has had a close working relationship<br />

with dm-drogerie markt, a major German drugstore chain<br />

with over a thousand outlets. their common objective:<br />

improving customer satisfaction. Each year, teams from<br />

dm and the Consumer Products Division work together to<br />

rethink their in-store innovation strategy.<br />

Following polls of its customers, the retailer decided<br />

in <strong>2008</strong> to modernise its make-up areas by doubling<br />

the space reserved for the market leader brands<br />

MaybeLLine ne w yO r k and L’O r é a L Pa r i s. A wider range of<br />

colours is thus offered, with better showcasing for<br />

new products. As in perfumeries, advisors have also<br />

received training in make-up products. this collaboration<br />

has given new impetus to make-up counter sales.<br />
