May 4th - SCAD Sand Arts Festival - This annual festival features competitions using sand and objects found on the beach, including shells and seaweed, as art. Categories include: sand castle design, sand sculpture, sand relief and wind sculpture. Contestants may work individually or in teams. The competitions are judged by SCAD faculty. There will be fishing from a boat and from a dock. Advance registration is required. Please registered your kids at Tybee Bait & Tackle Shop located at Lazaretto Creek Marina. The cost of pre-registration before April 28, 2007 is $5.00 and after the cost is $8.00. All kids registered will receive a Goodie Bag, a T-shirt, and a Door Prize. The Captains meeting will start at 9:00 am at Tybee Island Marina located at Lazaretto Creek Marina on Saturday, May 5, 2007, and the fishing will follow immediately after the goodie bags are handed out. The weigh in end at 2:30 pm and trophies and door prizes will be given out at 3:00 pm. There will be free hot dogs, hamburgers and a fish fry at the weigh in for everybody.
