Crown Norge’s new V-grooving tool promises increased
production efficiency.
One way to increase profit margins is to have the best tools – and a
new V-grooving tool for ACM (aluminium composite material) from
Crown Norge AS, Norway, could be crucial.
Initially developed for high frequency spindles with max 60,000
rpm, these tools have showed astonishing results. Some 30 metres
per minute in 4 mm thick ACM was achieved at 32,000 rpm when
tested by a UK company specialising in these materials. Previously,
a maximum of only 5-6 metres per minute had been possible, and
that with a high noise level. Not only did the tool give a drastic improvement
in production efficiency, but the low noise level also indicated
that spindle repair costs could be reduced dramatically.
Inspired from the geometry of quarter round engraving tools
sold by the company since 1992, the ACM V-grooving tool can be operated
at feeds and speeds many professional users may not believe
possible. Through one of its UK distributors Crown Norge
improved the production efficiency on one customer’s routing tables
by 700 per cent (according to the production manager).
The company claims to have the most cost efficient range of
tools on the market when putting together superior surface finish,
high feed rate, long tool life.
