A Court is held on the first Thursday <strong>of</strong> every Month, at 7 o'clock<br />

evening, for Small Debts; the Baillies Judges. <strong>The</strong> Dean <strong>of</strong> Guild<br />

Court meet as occasion requires.<br />

Every Burgess, vs^hether resident in the Burgh or not, has a vote<br />

in the nomination <strong>of</strong> the Provost, Baillies, Treasurer and Counsellors.<br />

Any Burgess may be elected Provost although not resident<br />

in the Burgh, if he be a Justice <strong>of</strong> the Peace, or Commissioner <strong>of</strong><br />

Supply in the County. No Burgess can be elected Baillie, Treasurer,<br />

or Counsellor, unless he shall have resided in the Burgh from the<br />

Whitsunday previous to the election, and must have certain qualifications<br />

as to property.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Watchmen to be on their stations at haff-pst 9 o'clock at<br />

night, and to continue until 5 o'clock morning, from April to September,<br />

inclusive; and until six o'clock from October till March,<br />

inclusive.—Patroles under the Sergeants alternately continue durinothe<br />

night to patrole the Barony, to see that the Watchmen are<br />

doing their duty, the lamps burning properly, to apprehend suspicious<br />

or disorderly persons, all <strong>of</strong> which is to be entered in a book<br />

for the inspection <strong>of</strong> the Master <strong>of</strong> Police in the morning, and the<br />

Commissioners at the weekly board.<br />

<strong>The</strong> funds are raised from the yearly rent <strong>of</strong> subjects, rented or<br />

valued at £'l and under =£4 sterling, yearly, 6d. per £ sterling<br />

=£4 and under £Q, 8d. per do.—at £Q and under £"5, lOd. per do,<br />

— at £9 and upwards, Is. per do.<br />

REGULATIONS<br />

For the HACICNEY COACHES and NODDIES in GLASGOW,<br />

To be observed till altered by the Magistrates,<br />

For half a mile, 1/— a mile, 1/6—a mile and a quarter, 2/—a mile"<br />

and a half, 2/3— a mile and three quarters, 2/6—two miles, 3/.<br />

If Hired by Time—For one hour, 2/6.—And at the rate <strong>of</strong> 6d. for<br />

every 1 5 minutes further time.
