have been experienced by Passengers and others, in consequence <strong>of</strong><br />

the Masters <strong>of</strong> Steam Boats, from improper competition and rivalship,<br />

postponing their departure for considerable and uncertain<br />

periods, after the times they had previously intimated to the Public,<br />

and from their altering the Notices <strong>of</strong> the times <strong>of</strong> sailing, originally<br />

given by them ;—the Magistrates and Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>Glasgow</strong>,<br />

as Trustees for enlarging and managing the Harbcv.r <strong>of</strong> <strong>Glasgow</strong>,<br />

and in virtue <strong>of</strong> the powers committed to them by the Acts <strong>of</strong> Parliament<br />

in that behalf, Hereby Enact and Ordain, that from and<br />

after the 8th July instant, the Masters and Crews <strong>of</strong> the Steam<br />

Boats, for the conveyance <strong>of</strong> Passengers, v.hich ply between the<br />

Harbour <strong>of</strong> <strong>Glasgow</strong>, and other ports in the Frith <strong>of</strong> Clyde, and<br />

Seas adjacent, shall not be permitted to alter the times <strong>of</strong> their<br />

sailing, as first intimated by them to the Public; but shall depart<br />

from the said Harbour punctually at the times <strong>of</strong> sailing, which<br />

they have originally announced, on their boards, or otherwise,<br />

under a penalty not exceeding Five Poimds for each <strong>of</strong>fence ; and<br />

that the Assistant Harbour Master for Steam Boats, shall take care<br />

these Regulations be strictly enforced.<br />
