PAISLEY CANAL.<br />

\A Boat for Pcsscngers leaves <strong>Glasgow</strong> for Paisley and Johnston, at<br />

10 o'clock, forenoon, and at 4 and 5 afternoon in summer;<br />

at 10 forenoon, and 4 afternoon in winter; and an extra Boat on<br />

Wednesday, at 6 afternoon in summer, and at 5 in wmter;<br />

fare to Paibley 9d. and 6d.—to Johnston, 9d. and Is.<br />

Track Boats fur Goods, depart from <strong>Glasgow</strong> for Paisley and Johnston<br />

at 6 morning—from Johnston for Paisley at 9 morning<br />

and from Paisley for <strong>Glasgow</strong>, at 10 and 12 forenoon; agents,<br />

John M'Gee, Port Eglinton, and John Miller, Moodie's court,<br />

where list <strong>of</strong> freights may be seen.<br />

MONKLAND CANAL.<br />

A Passage Boat Starts from Faskin, (II miles distant from <strong>Glasgow</strong>)<br />

at half past 7, morning, and ftom the Bason Townhead, at 4<br />

o'clock, afternoon ; fare 3d. and 1/3— other Crafi for coals and<br />

heavy articles daily.<br />

BILLETING SOLDIERS.<br />

Soldiers on the recruiting service and not lodged in the Barracks,<br />

are billeted on the Inhabitants in regular rotation, widi the following<br />

exceptions, viz. Parish Ministers and Schoolmasters, Physicians, Sur-<br />

geons, Procurators, Widows, and unman-Jed Ladies not in business,<br />

and Paupers, and uo Inhabitant to have Soldiers billeted on them a<br />

second time, till the whole are gone over.<br />

Occupiers <strong>of</strong> houses at £3 and under £3 yearly rent, two men for<br />

any number <strong>of</strong> days under a vv'eek—at £5 and upwards, two men for<br />

two weeks, or the remainder <strong>of</strong> the month, which may happen to be<br />

seventeen days.<br />

When it is inconvenient to furnish Soldiers with a bed, it has been<br />

usual in lieu there<strong>of</strong> to pay 3s. or 4s. a week for two men, payable week-<br />

ly at the option <strong>of</strong> the Inhabitant. Government allows a return <strong>of</strong> Sd.<br />
