3.2. ICAO ANNEX 16 VOLUME 1 CHAPTER 3<br />

This ICAO Chapter 3 is applicable <strong>to</strong> aircraft for which the application for certificate of<br />

airworthiness for the pro<strong>to</strong>type was accepted on or after 6 Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 1977 and before 1<br />

January 2006. As a consequence, all relevant aircraft are nicknamed “Chapter 3”. This<br />

is the case of most commercial airplanes, and for all Airbus aircraft.<br />

3.2.1. NOISE EVALUATION MEASURE<br />

ICAO Annex 16 Volume 1 Chapter 3 §3.2<br />

The noise evaluation measure shall be the effective perceived noise level in EPNdB.<br />

3.2.2. NOISE MEASUREMENT POINTS<br />

ICAO Annex 16 Volume 1 Chapter 3 §3.3<br />

An aeroplane, when tested in accordance <strong>with</strong> these Standards, shall not exceed the<br />

noise levels specified in Chapter 3 §3.4 at the following points:<br />

3.2.2.1. LATERAL FULL-POWER REFERENCE NOISE MEASUREMENT POINT<br />

The point on a line parallel <strong>to</strong> and 450 m from the runway centerline, where the noise<br />

level is a maximum during take-off.<br />
