A PLACE TO LIVE
The lifestyle, cultural
events, schools, better roads,
the arrival of the electronic
age and, most important of
all, the climate, has made
Blowing Rock not only a
destination for vacationers,
but also for those who want
to be a part of our community
for a season or establish themselves
as year-round residents. Since
the 1800s the region has experienced
a continued growth pattern; however,
during the past 10 years interest
by second home owners and
permanent home dwellers has
swelled to unprecedented levels.
That interest has done two things
to the lifestyle of the Blowing Rock
area and those who manage the
purchase and sale of property.
It prompted the concept of the
resort neighborhoods and
multi-family dwellings to
accommodate those who
found homes and property
in or within walking
distance to town very
scarce. This alone has seen
Blowing Rock evolve from a resort village
primarily populated by people who live and work
within the city limits, to a regional village, with
numerous developments surrounding the
town in every direction. These residents
look to Blowing Rock as their primary
hometown and are among the town’s
most active volunteers and service
oriented citizens.
