Goodbye to Faro & Little
Salmon Friends!
Since 1978 (34 years!) I’ve been happily in
Faro. Many thanks to everyone who has
ever done anything nice for me!
I’m not leaving by choice – and I’ll only be
in Whitehorse.
Special thanks to Glenda Benoit & Sharon
Johnson. Without your help I would have
never got through moving!

A big shout out to the Public Works
crew for helping us out with a GNO
project! I needed some wood cut to
mount some pictures on, and went down
to the Town Shop to ask if they could
help me out. They not only replaced my
old yucky wood with nice new wood,
but they cut it up for me as well!! This
is why I love living here! Thanks to all
the guys at the Town Shop!!

Our season is officially over and I am sad to see it end. We wrapped up the
year with a glow stick swim and a giant slip and slide. We had 21 youth come
out for our glow swim and just over 40 for our slip and slide. Wow that’s 10%
of Faro’s population, can you believe it? I have nothing but wonderful things
to say about Faro, its residence, and of course the town staff. I just want to
say a great big THANK YOU to everyone who made this year possible.

The Pool Staff (Dana and Angela, I know I have thanked you already but you
guys are amazing)
The Faro Fire Department (for building our awesome slip and slide)
Tina Freake and the Recreation Center Staff ( thanks for all of the support)
Cyndy Bekk and the Faro Flying Dolphins (without you I would have been over
my head)
William Nel (I know I suckered you into helping but it did not go
unappreciated)
The Town Office and Public Works Staff (thanks for always helping out and
having my back)
All the wonderful community members (you guys made it all happen)

Beryl Elizabeth Wallinger (nee Wray) slipped away peacefully
on September 12, 2012 in Nanaimo, B.C., freed from a long
journey through dementia. She will always be remembered
with great love by Bill, her husband of 59 years, her children
and their spouses; Donna (David), Rob (Patsy) and Neil
(Jocelyne), her
grandchildren; Dylan, Liam, Owen, Madison and Nolan, her
sister; Dorothy Leibel, sister‐in‐law; Sara Wray, her nieces and
nephews, and her very dear friends.
Beryl had an inquisitive mind and spirit of adventure that led
her to take delight in exploring many parts of the continent
and meeting people from all walks of life.
She was a vivacious and charismatic woman who lived with
joy, humour and passion, for the majority of her 80 years.
Beryl will be missed by all those who hold her close in their
hearts and warm in their memories.
The family is extremely grateful for the unwavering and
compassionate care received, by all of us, from the staff at the
Nanaimo Travellers Lodge Dementia Care Facility and from Dr.
Davies.
To honour Beryl’s wishes, there will be no ceremony held.
