white, tapering behind, free and rather remote; spores oblong-ellipsoid, obliquely apiculate,<br />
5-6X3-3.5 p; stipe tapering upward from the clávate base, white, solid, glabrous, 1.5-2 cm.<br />
long, 1-2 mm. thick; annulus membranous, persistent.<br />
TYPE LOCALITY: Preston, Ohio.<br />
HABITâT: Rotten logs in woods.<br />
DISTRIBUTION : Known only from the type locality.<br />

TYPE LOCALITY: South Carolina.<br />
HABITAT: Among squashes in a garden and in other cultivated grounds.<br />
DISTRIBUTION: South Carolina and <strong>North</strong> Carolina.<br />

TYPE LOCALITY: Lincoln, Nebraska.<br />
HABITAT: On soil in a greenhouse.<br />
DISTRIBUTION : Known only from the type locality.<br />

Pileus campanulate to expanded, strongly umbonate, gregarious, 2.5-4 cm. broad; surface<br />
dry, dark-brown on the umbo, the remainder white, changing to rosy-isabelline on drying,<br />
decorated with numerous, small, brownish, fibrillose scales, margin slightly striate; lamellae<br />
free, crowded, somewhat ventricose, white changing to fulvous on drying; spores ellipsoid,<br />
becomin'g yellowish-brown, smooth, 8-9X6-7 n ; stipe cylindric above, subbulbous at the<br />
base, rather tough, subglabrous, white changing to reddish-umbrinous on drying, 3-5 cm. long,<br />
about 3 mm. thick; annulus median, fixed, ample, sometimes deciduous, white with a brown<br />
margin.<br />
Type collected on a hickory log in "Palmetto Swamp" near Auburn, Alabama, September 1,<br />
1899, F. S. Earle.<br />
DISTRIBUTION: Known only from the type locality.<br />
