Pileus fleshy, ovoid to campanulate and expanded, subumbonate, 1.5-2.5 cm. broad;<br />

surface radiate-fibrillose, white beneath the cuticle, which is tawny-brown, darker in the<br />

center, at maturity slightly parted into minute scales, the fibers on the umbo often acutely<br />

convergent; context thin, white; lamellae rather narrow, close, white, rounded behind, free,<br />

approximate; spores oblong-ellipsoid, obliquely apiculate, 5-6X3 M; stipe subequal above the<br />

bulb, fistulöse, fibrous-stuffed, white and smooth above the annulus, fioccose-fibrillose and<br />

rufescent below, with scattered tawny scales, 4-5 cm. long, 2-4 mm. thick; veil flocculose,<br />

partly appendiculate.<br />

TYPE LOCALITY: Preston, Ohio.<br />

HABITAT: On the ground in woods.<br />

DISTRIBUTION: Known only from the type locality.<br />

Pileus fleshy, ovoid to convex-hemispheric, 7-9 cm. broad; surface furfuraceous, rugose,<br />

livid or greenish-livid, margin appendiculate; lamellae adnexed, rather narrow, white then<br />

reddish, with pallid edges; spores subglobose, smooth, hyaline, <strong>10</strong> M long; stipe bulbous, con-<br />

colorous, furfuraceous-scaly, solid, 11-15 cm. long, 1.5-2 cm. thick, the bulb 3-4 cm. thick;<br />

annulus apical, concolorous, lacerate.<br />

TYPE LOCALITY: Columbus, Ohio.<br />

HABITAT: On logs.<br />

DISTRIBUTION: Known only from the type locality.<br />

Pileus fleshy, firm, ovoid to convex or expanded, sometimes broadly gibbous, gregarious,<br />

4•8 cm. broad, 3-4 mm. thick; surface wood-brown to tawny-olive when young, often yellowish<br />

toward the margin, cracking areolately, showing the white context ; lamellae firm, free, angular<br />

behind, crowded, dingy-white, 3-4 mm. broad, eroded on the edges; spores narrowly ellipsoid,<br />

obliquely truncate at the base, smooth, hyaline, granular, 6-8X2.5-3 n; stipe fleshy, cylindric,<br />

somewhat bulbous, adorned with patches of the universal veil colored like the pileus, white<br />

above, dull-flesh-colored below, both without and within, hollow, 6-<strong>10</strong> cm. long, 6-<strong>10</strong> mm.<br />

thick.<br />

TYPE LOCALITY: Ithaca, New York.<br />

HABITAT: Moist woods in a ravine.<br />

DISTRIBUTION: Known only from the type locality.<br />

Pileus fleshy, ovoid to campanulate and expanded, subumbonate, 3-5 cm. broad; surface<br />

radiate-fibrillose, at first continuous, alutaceous to pale-umber, the cuticle at length separating<br />

into appressed scales; context thin, white; lamellae rather broad, close, white, approximate;<br />

spores oblong-ellipsoid, 8-<strong>10</strong>X5-6 ¡x; stipe tapering upward from the thickened base, fistulöse<br />

fibrous-stuffed, squamulose below the annulus and concolorous, 4-6 cm. long, 5-8 mm. thick;<br />

veil lacerate, appendiculate.<br />

TYPE LOCALITY: Preston, Ohio.<br />

HABITAT: On rotten wood in woods.<br />

DISTRIBUTION: Known only from the type locality.
