(Requirement). Indents shall be symmetrical <strong>and</strong> centered on the crimp barrel (Requirement).<br />
There shall be no exposed base metal or other damage (Requirement).<br />
19.15.2 Installation. Crimp contacts are assembled to conductors outside of the connector (see<br />
Figure 19-32) <strong>and</strong> are subsequently installed into the connector body (see Figure 19-33). When a<br />
connector is properly assembled, contacts are captured inside the connector.<br />
On terminal junctions <strong>and</strong> certain insertable crimp-contact connectors, contacts are not exposed<br />
for push testing. Contacts shall be properly installed <strong>and</strong> retained (i.e., locked-in/seated) within<br />
the cavities <strong>and</strong> withst<strong>and</strong> the axial (i.e., contact retention) loads specified in Table (19-2),<br />
without dislodging or damaging the contact, wire sealing grommet, cavity, or the contact<br />
retention mechanism (Requirement).<br />
