general rules<br />

1. Each bidder number is given a Bidpal automated<br />

bidding device. To bid in the Silent <strong>Auction</strong>, enter<br />

your bid using your Bidpal automated bidding<br />

device. The bidder with the highest bid at the<br />

end of the Silent <strong>Auction</strong> wins that item. In the<br />

Silent <strong>Auction</strong>, if your bid number is declared<br />

the highest bid by the <strong>Auction</strong> official, you must<br />

purchase that item. In some cases, if you would<br />

like to guarantee you are the top bidder, you may<br />

do so buy entering the ‘buy it now’ price so that<br />

you are declared the automatic winner.<br />

2. To bid in the live auction, hold your bid card<br />

with the number facing the auctioneer. A bid<br />

acknowledged by the auctioneer is a legal<br />

contract to purchase the item. Top bidders<br />

must pay for their items at the cashier. It is<br />

not necessary to pay for each item after its<br />

purchase. Please pay for all your purchases at<br />

the end of the auction. Bidders who have their<br />

credit card swiped at registration do not have<br />

to stand in line at the end of the auction to pay<br />

for their purchases. Instead, these guests will<br />

have paid receipts for their purchases delivered<br />

to them during the course of the auction. Please<br />

have your credit card swiped when registering.<br />

3. All purchases are final. There are no exchanges<br />

or refunds.<br />

4. <strong>Auction</strong> items will be awarded to one purchaser<br />

only. A purchaser who wishes to split the<br />

payment for an auction item with others must<br />

collect each payment from the other bidders<br />

and present full payment to the auction cashier.<br />

One invoice will be sent to the purchaser. It is up<br />

to the purchaser to make copies for the other<br />

bidders who split the payment.<br />

5. We prefer payment by check payable to UCDS.<br />

We will also gladly accept Visa, MasterCard, or<br />

American Express. UCDS is a 501(c)(3) charitable<br />

organization. Your payments may be tax<br />

deductible. Check with your financial advisor.<br />

6. All items not removed from the venue<br />

immediately after the auction will be stored<br />

at the Parent Association office. Contact Dina<br />

Wampold, dinawampold@gmail.com to arrange<br />

for pickup.<br />

7. Reservations for trips and vacation<br />

accommodations must be mutually arranged<br />

with the donor unless noted. Refunds will not<br />

be given for travel packages if the purchaser<br />

cancels the tickets or accommodations.<br />

8. The auction committee has attempted to<br />

describe and catalog all items correctly, but all<br />

items are offered as is. The Parent Association<br />

neither warrants nor represents, and in no<br />

event shall be responsible for, the correctness<br />

of descriptions, genuineness, authorship,<br />

provenance, or condition of the items. No<br />

statement made in this catalog or made orally at<br />

the auction or elsewhere shall be deemed such<br />

a warranty, representation, or assumption of<br />

liability. The values listed are estimates only and<br />

are not warranted for tax purposes or fair market<br />

value. Items have not been appraised unless<br />

so noted.<br />

9. Each person issued a bid number assumes all<br />

risks and hazards related to the auction and<br />

items obtained at the auction. Each bidder<br />

agrees to hold harmless from any liability arising<br />

therefrom <strong>University</strong> <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Development</strong> <strong>School</strong>,<br />

its elected and appointed officials, members<br />

and employees, and the auctioneer.<br />

10. After paying the cashier or receiving your<br />

receipts delivered to your table, the purchaser<br />

must locate and remove purchases from the<br />

auction premises. You will be asked to show your<br />

paid receipt for tangible items at the door at<br />

departure.<br />

11. All items expire one year from the date of the<br />

event unless otherwise stated.
