RACE 5 SCRATCH TIME CHANGES
Jagermeister, S. Filion to Ja. MacDonald
Windsong Honey, Ph. Hudon to S. Zeron
Tymal Presto, M. Baillargeon to D. McNair
5th Race Selections by K.C.M. THE HORSEPLAYERS JOURNAL
8 MUSCLE MAX has off the shelf status. That might be enough reason for some handicappers to take a pass when guessing about possible
winners in this Nw2 trotting event. I’ll take the gamble that Fellows has him ready to produce a high end performance and will give him a slight
preference for the top spot.
3 VICTIM OF CHANGES also looks somewhat risky since he has been out of competition since November. This leg in the early pick 4 wager might
prove to be a tough to solve puzzle since there are negatives in the profiles in some of the contenders. The guess to make is about how much he
might improve off that March 21 qualifier.
7 SEE R CHIN WIN had a good enough last race result after time on the sidelines to suggest that she might be an okay item to look at when
formulating pick 4 strategy in the third leg. Her trainer has had some very good success with another trotter that she trains that races on our circuit.
She’s playable.
2 JAGERMEISTER was turned down by Filion but the replacement was suitable and very capable options. His last start is easy to overlook by using
the breaking excuse. Post two should help him to obtain a favourable early position is my guess. If racing luck is on his side he can finish as part of
the winning triactor combination.
(1) SILLY DREAMS had maybe status after I looked at them all for the first time in the early stages of the elimination process. I gave her upset
status at best.
(4) STONEBRIDGE CATCH had two improved results recently after a pair of disappointing performances. His one win status made him a risky
option from a win standpoint.
(5) VIEWLANDER starts back up after some time on the shelf. He could be the one to play the role of spoiler if he is ready to show a best
performance.
(6) SIMAX hasn’t been as productive since moving up into the Nw2 category. I thought he might have to settle for one of the smaller purse shares
this night.
(9) WINDSONG HONEY did give me an upset score in January when she won at 16-1. I’ve been waiting for another spot to try again but this didn’t
like the night to try that approach.
(10) TYMAL PRESTO has built a fairly good record in his seven starts over the half-milers at London and Flamboro. Post 10 might prove to be too
much of a handicap to overcome tonight.
