the top 5 percent of America’s Best
Colleges 2012, ahead of Loyola
Marymount University, University

Francisco. According to The Princeton
Review 2012 edition of its college
guide, The Best 373 Colleges,
Redlands is again one of the country’s
best institutions for undergraduate
education.
Twelve of our seniors have received
Fulbright Scholarships in the past
five years. Fulbright awards are the
highest and most competitive awards
for overseas research or teaching
given each year by the US State
Department, to graduating university
seniors. Since winning our first awards,
the cumulative total of applications
to awards is 31 percent, exceeding
the vast majority of major institutions.
Since winning our first award five years
ago, we have been distinguished by
twice being named by Fulbright as a
top producer of these awards; Most
recently in 2012.

Location
The UR is located in Redlands,
California, a small town of
approximately 70,000. It’s only one
hour from the ocean and ski resorts,
and 45 minutes to the major cultural
venues of both Los Angeles and
Orange County.
Teaching Periods
The UR is a four-year university on
the semester system. Classes begin
in September and end in May.

How to Apply
The University of Redlands processes
applications on a “rolling” basis, which
means that you can be accepted
anytime throughout admission season.
However, we encourage students to
apply as early as possible. Beginning
in September, applicants can apply via
Common App which can be found on
the UR website.

The College is proud to be one of
the most diverse private Catholic and
Lasallian colleges in the US. We are
home to students from more than
30 countries and 40 states. With
over 2,800 full-time undergraduate
students, Saint Mary’s College of
California is large enough to offer many
opportunities for academic challenges
and recreational opportunities, but
small enough where students feel at
home. Average class sizes are very
small at 21 students with professors
teaching all classes. Saint Mary’s
personalized education will give

immediately; 90 percent of the pre-med
students successfully gain admission to

Saint Mary’s College Museum of Art
is the only accredited art museum in
the local county. The Gallery recently
received a substantial donation of Andy
Warhol photographs for its permanent
collection.

advising and tutoring, a career
center, counseling, student health and
wellness centers, a women’s resource
centre, and recreational centers

Tuition Fees
Estimated 2012 -13 tuition fees
for undergraduate studies start at
US$38,300. Housing, meals, books,
and mandatory health insurance are
estimated at US$16,000. Personal
spending money is not included in
these amounts.
GAC GPA Required
Overall GAC Grade Point Average 2.9;
Merit scholarship consideration begins
at 3.3 GPA. The ACT is not required,
but recommended. Students are
not required to be Catholic to enter
the College.
Minimum English Proficiency
TOEFL score 79 iBT, 213 CBT,
550 PBT; IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
Credits & Scholarships
Limited scholarships based on merit
(academic excellence) are available
for non-US passport holders. These
are awarded upon admission; no
additional application is required.
