Founded in 1973, the UPAEP was<br />
established at the request of the people<br />
of Puebla in order to serve the people<br />
of the community. <strong>The</strong> University is<br />
noted for its academic excellence and<br />
the number of accredited programs as<br />
well as for its institutional development<br />
strength. <strong>The</strong> total university-level<br />
(undergraduate) enrollees are 9,615<br />
students. Puebla is known as the<br />
city of the student and UPAEP is a<br />
university that welcomes students<br />
from different states of the country,<br />
mainly from the south-east as well as<br />
international students. This has created<br />
a very diverse and attractive student life.<br />
UPAEP is located just two blocks<br />
from popular Juarez Avenue and a<br />
few blocks from Puebla’s historic<br />
downtown, which is considered a<br />
UNESCO World Heritage Site for its<br />
colonial architecture. Our campus has<br />
a very attractive urban location; it is<br />
located in the middle of the city, just a<br />
few blocks from the historic downtown.<br />
This is ideal for the student who wants<br />
to be close to or get to know the real<br />
and daily Mexican life. Also, the UPAEP<br />
campus is near public transportation<br />
to different parts of the city. <strong>The</strong>re are<br />
many shopping centers, movie theaters,<br />
and night clubs nearby.<br />
UPAEP’s campus has much to offer<br />
to local and international students<br />
including cultural and sports activities.<br />
Campus facilities include a fully<br />
equipped computer center, library<br />
center, conference room, language<br />
center, bank, cafeteria, film center,<br />
gymnasium, outdoor pool, and other<br />
sports facilities. <strong>The</strong> university is<br />
renowned for its basketball and soccer<br />
teams, and student groups are active in<br />
theater, dance, chorus, speech, debate,<br />
photography, and animation.<br />
