At Swinburne University of Technology
Sarawak Campus our courses,
adapted from our home campus in
Melbourne, Australia, are designed
to prepare graduates to live and
work in a world in which professionals
need to be capable of high levels of
international interaction.
The Sarawak campus was established
in Kuching, the capital city of the
Malaysian state of Sarawak, in
2000. It is a foreign branch campus
university and therefore has dual
nationality, being both a branch of
the Australian university as well as a
Malaysian university. Degrees awarded
are Australian and testamurs are
indistinguishable from those awarded
in Australia.
Swinburne University of Technology,
Sarawak Campus is jointly owned by
Swinburne University of Technology,
Australia and the Sarawak State
government. The Australian partner in
this venture, Swinburne University of
Technology, a 104-year-old institution,
is well-known in Australia for its
business and technical education
and for close links with industry.
The university wants to make the
same high standard of education
available to young people abroad.
Undergraduate degrees offered at the
Sarawak campus include Engineering,
Science, Commerce, ICT and Design,
and double degrees in Engineering.
The university also offers postgraduate
research programs at PhD and Masters
levels in these disciplines as well as
Master of Business Administration
(International) and Master of Arts
(Teaching English to Speakers of
Other Languages) by coursework.
Currently the Sarawak Campus
has more than 4,000 students with
international students from more than
50 countries. The student population
is expected to reach 5,000 by 2013.
The campus is only about 15 minutes
from the Kuching city centre, and
boasts custom-designed buildings
and facilities which greatly improve
teaching, research and student
accommodation.
Modelled as a garden city, Kuching
has been described as one of the most
liveable and attractive cities in South-
East Asia.

Tuition Fees
Annual tuition fees for undergraduate
studies are about US$19,000 to
US$40,000.
GAC GPA required
Overall GAC GPA average of 2.3 – 2.5
Minimum English Proficiency
Minimum grade of 80 percent in Level
III GAC English modules, or IELTS with
overall band score of 6.0 with no band
under 6.0 (or equivalent).
Credits and Scholarships
Students may be eligible for transfer
of credit* if the courses they have
studied are similar to undergraduate
courses offered in Swinburne Sarawak.
The University also has a system that
awards scholarships and financial aid
to deserving students. A student who is
enrolled in the University and has good
results may apply for scholarship*.
